Built in one go in the 17th century, Gothenburg was planned as a trading post when the Swedish Empire was at the peak of its powers. As the largest port in Sweden it became a centre for industries like shipbuilding, and despite its obvious affluence still has an down-to-earth, working character. And yes, it's the capital of Swedish Death Metal since the 90's which made this town also famous - and besides all that, it's full of beautiful spots like this one pictured here!

Gothenburg was not "planned". it evolved. There was no master lan and even had there been human nature would have corrupted it..... get real with your glib statements.....
